As a licensed massage therapist, it sounds a lot like sciatica. Sciatica can be bothersome to the hip and leg region. Most people feel numbness or tingling down either the side of their leg, or down the back of their leg, possibly even to the foot. I would be seeking out a licensed massage therapist near you who will work on your glutes (buttocks) and around your hips. It is a VERY common thing, especially if there is a herniated disk in the lumbar (lower back) region.

Emi is always super kind, sweet, thoughtful, and well mannered. She surely takes her time trying to understand my condition, pain and uncomfort before she starts the session.  That's the moment I am sure that she really cares about me. It is important thing for therapists to find out  or listen to their clients' condition, but not that many therapists out there do it, unfortunately.   mobile massage in London
About 60 to 80 percent of the U.S. adult population suffers from low back pain and it’s the second most common reason why people go to the doctor, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. In many cases, alternative treatments such as visiting a chiropractor or receiving a massage can reduce or eliminate your pain. Understanding the fundamental differences between the two could help you select the best treatment method for your specific needs.

Leah Miller wrote:The pain is quite literally in the middle of my back - equal distance between the base of my neck and top of my buttocks, and situated right over one or two of my vertebrae. Seems to be a 2in x 2in circle of pain with no visual bruising and generally hurts only when I push on it, but every now and then I get a stabbing pain in that area. Don't remember falling on my back recently or getting hit with anything to such a specific area. And none of my packs have anything sticking out or pushing on that area. So honestly I have no idea what this could be. Anybody else have similar issues, or can give me some hints to mine? Sports and Remedial Mobile massage in Chiswick, Richmond, Twickenham and surrounds

Did you ever figure out the issue?  I have had a similar pain.. Mine is located on right side near shoulder blade. I've had it for over a year sometimes I will lay/roll on a tennis ball and it takes the breath out of me, sharp pain that radiates to the front area ribs/liver region.  Its the weirdest thing.  I was concerned of liver, gallbladder, pancreas, but labwork and ultrasound came back fine.  Went back a few months later and they did an xray of my back, said all is fine.. went to a chiropractor for an adjustment and that did not change it.. I am so stumped as what it could be.  I scare myself thinking of the worst and I am praying it is not anything serious..

What if periodic appointments with a massage therapist just aren't practical for you? Due to things like busy schedules, travel times to a good massage therapist in your area, or personal privacy, getting a hands-on massage may just not work for your lifestyle. While not an exact substitute for human touch, there may be alternatives. There are many therapeutic products available for use in the home, such as hand-held massagers and massage pillows, which are designed with the goal of mimicking some of the techniques used by massage therapists. For people who have experienced significant pain relief from massage and are interested in investing in a product that delivers overall, massage-like benefits, a massage chair may be an option. Most massage chairs are designed to mimic the Shiatsu and Swedish massage techniques, making them potentially helpful for specific pain points in the back or neck and for overall relaxation. In New Zealand, massage is unregulated. There are two levels of registration with Massage New Zealand, the professional body for massage therapists within New Zealand, although neither of these levels are government recognised. Registration at the Certified Massage Therapist level denotes competency in the practice of relaxation massage. Registration at the Remedial massage therapist denotes competency in the practice of remedial or orthopedic massage. Both levels of registration are defined by agreed minimum competencies and minimum hours.[105]
Biomechanical stimulation (BMS) is a term generally used for localised biomechanical oscillation methods, whereby local muscle groups are stimulated directly or via the associated tendons by means of special hand held mechanical vibration devices. Biomechanical oscillation therapy and training is offered in a variety of areas such as competitive sports,[37] fitness, rehabilitation,[38] medicine,[39] prevention, beauty, and used to improve performance of the muscles and to improve coordination and balance. It is often used in the Myofascial trigger point therapy concept to invoke reciprocal inhibition within the musculoskeletal system. Beneficial effects from this type of stimulation have been found to exist, the efficacy of the BMS Matrix therapy was proven in an independent study.[40] carried out by TÜV-Süd which was commissioned by German health insurer BKK Gesundheit. In the US, licensure is the highest level of regulation and this restricts anyone without a license from practicing massage therapy or by calling themselves that protected title. Certification allows only those who meet certain educational criteria to use the protected title and registration only requires a listing of therapists who apply and meet an educational requirement.[123] It is important to note that a massage therapist may be certified, but not licensed. Licensing requirements vary per state, and often require additional criteria be met in addition to attending an accredited massage therapy school and passing a required state specified exam (basically the certification requirements in many states). In the US, most certifications are locally based. However, as of March 2014, some states still do not require a license or a certification.[citation needed] However, this is thought to change eventually as more regulatory bodies governing the profession of massage are established in each state. Furthermore, some states allow license reciprocity where massage therapists who relocate can relatively easily obtain a license in their new state. Not all states provide this option.[124]
Springall et al in 1991 concluded that the symptoms of notalgia paresthetica may, in part, be related to an increase in the sensory epidermal innervation in the affected skin areas. [6] Histological studies have shown cutaneous changes in a few cases, including lichen amyloid, which may be secondary to the localized chronic scratching and rubbing. [6, 10]
Dating back around 2500 years, Thai massage (also known as ‘the practical expression of loving kindness’, as well as ‘lazy yoga’!) is known to most of us in the Western world as a relaxation aid. However, the original aim of this traditional ancient art was to heal and cure through its combinatory process of meditative rocking, acupressure, reflexology and yogic stretching. It has evolved over the years from the practice and knowledge of both Yoga and Ayurveda.

However, the treatment for fibromyalgia and tender points involves a mix of medications, daily stress management, exercise, water exercises called hydrotherapy, and rest. Nuad thai Massage

When clinically indicated, we recommend massage in combination with your chiropractic care. While chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the spine and its impact on the nervous system, massage focuses on the 650 muscles of the body. Both disciplines work together to help keep the body in proper alignment, balance and function. Long-standing spinal problems are accompanied by ingrained muscle patterns. Muscle spasms and scar tissue are often involved. By augmenting your chiropractic care with massage therapy, these muscle and soft tissue problems can be addressed. This can help speed your recovery and enhance the retraining of your spine. Pregnancy Massage Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith
In the vast majority of patients with low back pain, symptoms can be attributed to nonspecific mechanical factors. However, in a much smaller percentage of patients, the cause of back pain may be something more serious, such as cancer, cauda equina syndrome, spinal infection, spinal compression fractures, spinal stress fractures, ankylosing spondylitis, or aneurysm. The technique combines hydrotherapy floating and immersion with shiatsu and other massage techniques. Watsu is used as a form of aquatic therapy for deep relaxation and other therapeutic intent. Related forms include WaterDance, Healing Dance, and Jahara technique.[73][74] Thai Square Spa - Best Spa in London
Their research differs from past studies of chronic low back pain, which tended to focus on patients who already had a well-established track record of long-term problems (in other words, the people who had already drawn the short straw before they were selected for study, and are likely to carry right on feeling rotten). Instead they studied new cases of chronic low back pain, and found that “more than one third” recovered within nine more months. This evidence is a great foundation for more substantive and lasting reassurance for low back pain patients. Traditional Thai massage

Over the years I have tried all sorts. Chiropractors, targeted exercise regimes, Swedish and Sports Massages. All worked but none worked immediately. Then a friend suggested trying Thai Massage so I booked a 2 hour session and that one session sorted out what had taken multiple sessions with every other treatment that I had tried.  Anyway, we thought it would be a good thing to introduce to Wanganui so my wife went to Thailand to renew her certification in Thai Massage and to recruit a couple of excellent Thai Masseuses.

But you don’t have to be a professional athlete to get a sport massage. It’s ideal for anyone who’s physically active — as well as someone who’s just starting out with a new workout program, running their first 10K or marathon, or doing anything else that’s outside their normal activity routine. Especially if you’re more of a novice athlete, a pre-event sports massage can make that a better event for you. And for regular marathon runners, there are specific techniques used to help a body that’s been through that kind of intense event. A few cancers in their early stages can be hard to tell apart from ordinary back pain — a bone cancer in the vertebrae, for instance — and these create a frustrating diagnostic problem. They are too rare for doctors to inflict cancer testing on every low back pain patient “just in case.” And yet the possibility cannot be dismissed, either! It’s an unsolveable problem. Sports massage
Sometimes confused with pressure point massage,[10] this involves deactivating trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, such as headaches, in other parts of the body. Manual pressure, vibration, injection, or other treatment is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Trigger points were first discovered and mapped by Janet G. Travell (President Kennedy's physician) and David Simons. Trigger points have been photomicrographed and measured electrically[71] and in 2007 a paper was presented showing images of Trigger Points using MRI.[72] These points relate to dysfunction in the myoneural junction, also called neuromuscular junction (NMJ), in muscle, and therefore this technique is different from reflexology, acupressure and pressure point massage.

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH) low back pain is one of the most common health complaints in the US. Moreover, it can be one of the most debilitating medical complaint as well. As for who you seek out to assist you with your pain, that really depends on your needs. A chiropractor will definitely assist you with structural issues, such as mechanical adjustments that can provide relief if there is a pinched nerve or misalignment. A massage therapist will provide soft tissue relief, working on muscles. As a massage practitioner, I can tell you that massage will increase circulation, release endorphins, release and relax the muscles that are tight around your hips, hamstrings (back of thigh muscles), and glutes (your bum) which will definitely assist in easing the pain. Many suffers of low back pain will see a chiro for structural (skeletal) problems, and will utilize a massage practitioner as an adjunct to the care they are receiving from their chiropractor. Hope that helps! Massage in Chiswick at the comfort of your own Home
Great massage place with the same quality as somewhere on the higher price range. They are friendly, help you right away and adjust the pressure to your desire. They do their best to make you feel comfortable with your visit and when I came for my couples massage with my significant other they respected us with our desire to keep our undergarments on and were very professional. I have no reservations giving them five stars thanks to their exceptional service, low cost, friendliness of staff and it was an overall great experience. We will be back. As in many other professions, there are varying degrees of training and qualifications a massage therapist can have. It is up to you to find one who is trained in techniques that actually address back pain issues. Some of the more popular styles of massage for back pain are: orthopedic massage, medical massage, and something called St. John’s Technique. It would also be a good idea to look for a massage therapist who has comprehensive knowledge of muscle imbalances relating to back pain. Good luck finding one, because they are rare. If you aren't trained in giving deep-tissue massage, the Mayo Clinic cautions, because there are a number of risks associated with the techniques. You can inflict injury if the person has arthritis, open wounds or osteoporosis. Blood clots can loosen and cause a stroke or heart attack. Though rare, you could also cause internal bleeding, paralysis or other nerve damage if not careful. Massage - Chiswick | Why come to "The Massage Centre"?

Today, Americans are increasingly turning to massage. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the proportion of Americans who got massage therapy increased by 38% between 2002 and 2012. Users typically seek out a trained massage therapist (not a medical doctor) and can spend anywhere from $40 to $250 or more per hour, depending on where they live, the type of massage, and the setting. (Expect to pay more at a fancy spa.)
Thai massage traditionally follows the so called Sen lines on the body, somehow analogous to “energy lines” or meridians. Typically, the massager starts with the feet and legs of the recipient, who initially lies on his back. This is followed by a massage of the hands, arms, back and neck, and  depending on the practitioner’s style  a short head and face massage. Although oil is not being used in traditional Thai massage, oil massage softer and less “painful,” but also less effective is also available in most massage parlours, however at slightly higher prices. Unlike Western massage styles, the Thai version focuses on circulation and pressure points, promoting internal health as well as muscular flexibility. Treatment often begins with the feet and gradually moves upwards towards the head. The body is gently arranged into four positions (face-down, face-up, side, and sitting position), which enables the masseur to perform a variety of exercises that would be otherwise unworkable.
